One of the objectives of the HLS scheme is to improve understanding of the New Forest’s natural and historic environment and land management.
To achieve this, HLS funding provides free educational visits for children between the ages of seven and 16 who visit the Open Forest.
Since 2010: more than 16,500 children have visited the Forest and learnt how to care for it thanks to the HLS scheme.

Ancient Tree Hunt
Children from the New Forest put their education skills to the test in a hunt for ancient trees with staff from the New Forest National Park Authority, funded by the HLS scheme.
