The New Forest’s Higher Level Stewardship scheme has celebrated another successful year with an open afternoon and its annual general meeting.
Held at Queens House in Lyndhurst, the event saw members of the public and representatives of local organisations browse stalls from each of the scheme’s projects:
- Support for commoners
- Wetland restoration
- Removing non-native invasive plants
- Habitat restoration, including clearing rhododendrons and non-native pine trees
- Education
- Land Advice Service
The day ended with a speech by the Official Verderer detailing some of the year’s highlights and certificates presented to the scheme’s volunteers who play a vital role in its success.
